Client Strategy Associate

Organization Overview:

Founded in 2007, Imprint Capital Advisors is a registered investment advisor that assists institutional and individual clients with investments that seek both financial return and positive social and environmental impact.  As of March 31, 2014, the firm had more than 30 client relationships and over $400 million under advisement.  Imprint’s clients are mainly of three types:  foundations, families, and financial institutions.  In its seven-year history, Imprint has worked with its clients to make more than 110 investments across asset classes, geographies, and social sectors as diverse as education, health care, food and agriculture, energy and the environment, and the economic development of low wealth communities.  The firm has 17 employees and offices in San Francisco and New York.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Client Strategy & Impact, the Client Strategy Associate will support Imprint’s ongoing engagement with clients to develop and implement investment plans that meet both financial and impact objectives.  She/he will also be responsible for contributing to the firm’s pipeline of investable opportunities that align with client priorities.  The position is based in San Francisco.

Position Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Participate in meetings and calls with clients to understand client financial and impact priorities
  • Perform background research and analysis to help refine and sharpen the articulation of client objectives
  • Support the process of crafting client investment policy statements, model portfolios, and other client specific deliverables

Sourcing / Pipeline Development                                                                   30%

  • Conduct market scans and other research to identify investment opportunities that align with client priorities
  • Manage and maintain a database of investable opportunities across multiple impact areas/themes, asset classes, and geographies
  • Map available opportunity sets in highly visual formats for internal and external/client audiences
  • Coordinate research coverage with leads of the firm’s impact and asset class practice groups

Business Development                                                                                    10%

  • Prepare presentation materials for meetings with prospective clients

Education and Experience

  • BA/BS or equivalent degree
  • At least four years prior work experience
  • Consulting background preferred
  • Working knowledge of investment concepts and practice
